To be fair, Museveni inherited quite a mess when he came to power and the situation is not as bad now, as it was then. However, corruption and child trafficking still exist in Uganda after over 30 years of his regime. That alone illustrates the need for change.

Recently, Museveni had his political rival tortured and his driver shot. Those are the tactics of a dictator. He is also trying to become El Presidente for life by changing the laws to keep himself in power. There are enough banana republics in the world, why should that be Uganda's fate?

Museveni was supposed to have a platform that protected human rights but the evidence is in, he is weighed in the scales and found wanting. A strong and moral leader could end the scourge of child trafficking and government corruption. Therefore, I am in favor of letting someone else take a kick at the can . A populous leader with the support of the people.

Bobi Wine has many supporters in the West, not just in the streets of Uganda. As a Protestant, I have reservations about his ties to Catholicism and Islam but let us remember that many good people were born into those systems. It does not necessarily define their journey in life or their personal relationship with God. After all, the first Protestants were initially Catholics who chafed under their wicked leaders in Rome and led a rebellion.

Bobi Wine seems well spoken and reasonable in interviews. He comes across as a thoughtful man with the heart of a poet. He has captured and embodied the zeitgeist of his time and place. That is no easy feat, even for a musician. It takes the hand of God reaching through the swirling mists of time to raise up a man as a symbol. Whatever else he may be, he is certainly that - a symbol for those who fight oppression.
